Proudly showing off her awards, Katelyn White competed at the Snowflake Skate Competition on Nov. 22 and placed fourth in Freeskate level 1.

A figure skating test session is hosted by a USFS club, which allows skaters to be judged by professionals who are certified through USFS.
Each skater is assessed based on their ability of skating at their level in three different disciplines: Moves in the Field, Freestyle and Dance. If a skater completes a test by passing, they are then qualified to move onto the next level.
Those skaters who participated in the USFS Test Session were: Sarah Hebert who completed both her Pre-Bronze and Bronze dance tests.
The four dances that Hebert passed were: Fiesta Tango, Ten Fox, Willow Waltz & Hickory Hoedown. Shayna da Cruz & Jessica Scott passed their Pre-Bronze dances, by completing the Swing Dance.
Passing her Preliminary Moves in the Field was Abbey Player. Hebert and Player are both from Fort Fairfield. The skaters are taught by Cortney Rector, Haley Kelley & Katie Smith.
These skaters, along with 15 additional advanced skaters are now preparing for another upcoming test session that will be held in Presque Isle on Feb. 14, 2009.
The Skating Club of Maine will be flying professional judges in from Hartford, CT and Burlington, VT, along with another professional judge who will travel from Portland, ME who will potentially evaluate 49 tests, in Moves in the Field, Freestyle and Dance!
In addition to the test session, on Nov. 22, Katelyn White competed at the Snowflake Skate Competition which was also held in Falmouth.
White competed at the Freeskate 1 level, and placed 4th in both the Compulsory and Program Events. She is from Easton and is coached by Kelley & Smith.
