Grades 5&6 Basketball
Caleb Nadeau scored eight of his game high 22 points in the second quarter to help propel the Pistons past the Celtics, 36-21. Kyle Rider chipped in with seven points, and Isaac Michaud added five points. Taylor Williams led the Celtics with nine points, all in the second half. David Cyr contributed six points. The Spurs and Clippers battled to the end with the Spurs barely coming out on top, 27-24. Cody McGlinn poured in a game high 16 points to pace the Spurs. Kyle Nadeau finished with seven first half points. Jordan Lyford and Sam Gray both tallied two points to bring the Spurs’ total to 27. The Clippers put five players in the scoring column, led by Grayden Hemphill with 10 points. Joseph Boone chipped in with seven points.
Grades 1-2 Little Wildcat Basketball
The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department will begin registration for its Little Wildcat basketball program on Tuesday, Jan. 20, for both residents and non residents at the William V. Haskell Community Center. Schedules will be ready on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
The program is offered to boys and girls in first and second grades and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays after school at the community center.
The registration fee is $18. The program begins the week of Feb. 23.
Father/Daughter Valentines Dance
The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department’s annual Father/Daughter Valentine’s Dance is schedule for Feb. 13 from 7-9 p.m. at the William V. Haskell Community Center.
The event is open to girls’ grades K-6 and their fathers. Advance tickets go on sale beginning Jan. 27. The cost is $7 per couple.
Hotshot Contest
The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department will host the MRPA Hotshot basketball competition at the William V. Haskell Community Center. The competition tests each contestant’s speed, shooting, dribbling and rebounding ability. Shooting times are as follows: Tuesday, Jan. 20, Wednesday, Jan. 21, and Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5:30-7 p.m. for all ages.
Participants may shoot on any or all days, with players’ highest score to be recorded. The top three in each division advance to the regionals, to be held in Caribou on Feb. 17.
Youth Cross Country Skiing Program
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will be teaming up with the Nordic Heritage Center to hold a youth cross country skiing program this winter. The program will be for students grades 1-8. The program will run on Saturdays from Jan. 17 to March 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the exception of no meeting on Feb. 21. Presque Isle Indoor Pool
The Presque Isle Indoor Pool started pre-paid registration Jan. 12. Lessons began the week of Jan. 20 and run until March 29. Please note the Indoor Pool will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19.

Level IV to VI Classes: Wednesday 2-2:50 p.m. or 6-6:50 p.m., Thursday 4:10-5 p.m. or 5-5:50 p.m. or Saturday 11-11:50 a.m.
Adult Beginner Classes: Monday 9-9:50 a.m. and Wednesday 7-7:50 p.m.
Adult Stroke Improvement Class: Wednesday 7-7:50 p.m.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Class
The Presque Isle Indoor Pool will be conducting an American Red Cross Lifeguard Class from February 19-21. This class will meet from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Participants must be at least 15 years old and be able to swim 300 yards via the breaststroke and front crawl.
