Three Aroostook County men were arrested Wednesday in Fort Fairfield after a traffic stop led police to a stash of drugs.
Fort Fairfield officers assisted the U.S. Border Patrol at about 10:30 p.m. with a traffic stop on West Limestone Road, according to Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew Cummings.
Jeremiah Knox, 30, of Cyr Plantation, was driving a truck with New Hampshire plates. Police discovered his license had been revoked due to habitual offender charges.
Randy Lee, 46, of Caribou was one of the passengers. Investigators found he was in violation of four sets of bail conditions, Cummings said.
Both men were taken into custody.
Meanwhile, 61-year-old Preston Brown of Caribou arrived to give the remaining passengers a ride. Brown showed signs of drug impairment and failed to pass sobriety tests, police said.
Officers also discovered 27 grams of methamphetamine in Brown’s truck.
Brown was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs, unlawful trafficking of drugs, unlawful possession of drugs and unlawfully furnishing drugs.
He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and bail was set at $17,500 cash.
Knox was charged with operating after habitual offender revocation, a Class D crime. He posted bail and was released at the Fort Fairfield Police Department.
Lee was charged with violating bail conditions and was taken to jail, where he awaits a court appearance.
Maine State Police and Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.
