Thirty-five local skiers of all ages and abilities joined the Southern Aroostook Ski Club and Maine Winter Sports Center for free ski rentals and a chance to explore the exciting cross-country ski trails at the Linneus Sno-Sports Club.
PARTICIPATES – Participating in the Southern Aroostook Ski Club outing were, from left, front, Aaron Sewell, Tessa McCormick, Kelsey Sewell and Duncan McCormick; back, Melissa York of MWSC; Jack Eastman, LaDericka Sewell and Tammy McCormick. For many it was their first time on skis and everyone approached it with a great attitude. A few experienced skiers did the whole six-mile ski trail that is groomed by the club, but more than one young skier left after discovering a new sport they really enjoyed.
Many thanks to the Linneus Sno- Sports Club and Carl Campbell for grooming the ski trail and letting everyone warm up in the lodge with their hot cocoa and to Houlton Recreation Department for helping to publicize the event.
If you missed this great opportunity or want to ski again, Maine Winter Sports Center will be providing free cross-county ski rentals at Moosestompers, February 7 from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. in Community Park.
