‘Cats take 18th, 21st at states

    The Presque Isle swim team participant at the state swim meet on Feb. 16 and 17 at the University of Maine at Orono. The girls swim team placed 18th with 24 points and the boys placed 21st with eight points.     Allison Young, Karrie Brawn, Erica Hemphill and Shae Adler finished 14th in the preliminary and final girls’ 200 medley relay and 11th in the 200-yard freestyle preliminary relay and 10th in the final.
    In the 400 freestyle preliminary relay, Brawn, Hemphill, Adler and Young placed 17th and Brawn placed 31st in the 50-yard freestyle.
    In the 100-yard butterfly, Hemphill placed 11th in the preliminary and 13th in the final.
    Matt Dunn, Jacob Brawn, Stephen Goulet and Kyle Gilson placed 16th in the preliminary and 14th in the boys ‘final 200 medley relay. In the 200-yard freestyle preliminary relay, Dunn, Brawn, Gilson and Cameron Winter placed 20th and 15th in the boys’ 400-yard freestyle preliminary relay. Dunn, Brawn, Gilson and Warren Zubrick placed 16th in the boys’ final 400-yard freestyle relay.
    To finish up for the boys, Dunn placed 21st in the 100-yard backstroke and Gilson placed 35th in the 50-yard freestyle.
