HOULTON, Maine — Monument Lodge No. 96 held a semi-public communication earlier this month to install Clarence R. Jones as Worshipful Master along with his suite of officers for 2009. Seventy-five people were in attendance.
The installation was conducted by Kenneth White, District Deputy Grand Master of the First Masonic District. Assisting White were Steve Sherman as marshall and James May as chaplain. Also Neil Haines and Robert Hancock who respectively installed the Senior and Junior Wardens. The installing officers are members of Masonic lodges from Ashland, Caribou and Limestone.
Special musical numbers were sung by Brianna Miller, daughter of Jones, who was accompanied by Kay Trickey on the piano. Torrey Sylvester, Gerald Karnes and Gerald Wilson, members of the Monument Lodge, provided special music with singing of the Master’s and Wardens’ odes. They were accompanied by Thomas Brown.
Gifts of appreciation were presented to Richard L. Rhoda, immediate Past Master, by Clarence Jones and Danny Milton, on behalf of the officers and the lodge for his service the past two years.
The lodge presented a special thank-you gift to Theresa Bragan for all of the diligent support work she has provided the lodge over the years. A short address was given by the new master on his plan for the lodge for the coming year. These plans include programs to involve families and children in lodge-sponsored activities for the town. On April 25, a special table lodge will be hosted to celebrate the lodge’s 150 anniversary.
Also attending the installation from Woodstock Lodge No. 11 were its Master, Vaughn Crump, and James Leavitt.
