Sherman Senior Citizens hold potluck lunch
The Sherman area senior citizens met for a potluck lunch at the gym in town on Feb. 4.
We played games and signed 10 cards for shut-ins, bereaved and for other concerns.
In such a small club, those who don’t attend are truly missed and we look eagerly to each meeting to share companionship, wonderful food and whatever entertainment.
Spring is coming, but only God knows exactly when. The town is almost snowbound.
Our next meeting will be on March 18. The welcome mat is always in place.
Present were: Annie Atkinson, Marjorie and Dick Hall, Bonita Staples, Donna Grass, Eva and Linnea Perry, Frances Sleeper, Esther Greenier and Sandra Qualey.

Happy Losers
By Shirley Sides
The Happy Losers meeting was held March 4, at the Congregational Church vestry in Island Falls.
We always open our meeting with our pledge and sometimes, dreaded roll call. We had 11 ladies weigh-in and attend our class.
Lois Green was the loser of the week and Jackie Pratt was the runner-up. Gladys Corneil was the loser for the month of February. Our secretary and treasurer gave reports for the week. Great job ladies.
Loretta Bouchard led the program for the week and her topic was an article from the First magazine concerning plant foods like mushrooms, apples with peanut butter and black beans. Our meetings are always interesting.
Please feel welcome to our humble group of people every Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at the church vestry. The weigh-ins begin at 8:45 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9. Please call 365-4884 for more information.

Ricker Rumblings
By Lois Downing
Another several inches of fresh snow this morning, March 8. Yes, we are in March now, the second week. Does that surprise you? It does me.
Marion Hogan is a patient at Houlton Regional Hospital at this writing. We miss you, Marion.
Paul Downing of Wakefield, Mass. has been a visitor of his mother, Lois Downing, for several days.
Norma Bates is on a trip to Texas to visit her son. She had several of her family with her. Have fun, Norma.
My daughter, Kathryn Hall of the Bangor area visited with me over the weekend.
The snowplows have been busy. We get over one storm and another follows. Is spring around the corner? Sure it is.
Althea Lloyd is a tenant at Madigan Estates now, having moved there a couple of weeks ago.
Joan LaFland and has vacated her apartment here at Ricker Plaza and moved to a nursing home. As to the exact home, I’m not sure.
Don’t forget St. Patrick’s Bazaar next Saturday at St. Mary’s Church. A turkey supper will be held and a cakewalk will start at 4 p.m. See you there.
Shirley Nason had two nieces visit her over the weekend, Leanne and Crystal. She enjoys them very much.
Now for a bit of silliness—a guy on the other side yells to another, “How do you get to the other side of this river?” The other guy yells back, “You are on the other side.”
And now for the Bible quote: (Philippians 4:19): “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” See you next week.
