CRESCENT CITY, FL-Leland R. Lennon, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at his home in Crescent City. Leland was born April 5, 1933, in Houlton, Me., the son of the late Francis and Annie Dubay Lennon.
He was a veteran and served honorably in the United States Air Force 1/513th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. He received a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Leland was also a member of the Army National Guard for 20 years. He retired from Avco Lycoming/Textron where he worked for most of his civilian life. Leland had retired to Florida from Bristol, CT in 1993 with his late wife, Mary E. (King) Lennon.
A loving husband and father, Leland leaves behind his two sons, Leigh and Bruce; two daughters, Amanda Bartone and Tammy Budnick; three step-daughters, Maryanne Chasse, Kathy Washington, and Bonnie Buzzell; two brothers, Archie and Alfred Lennon; one sister, Mary Agnes Loomis and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT. Burial, with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. A reception will follow at Nuchies Restaurant, 164 Central St., Forestville, CT.
