Shaw, Louise Mary Boulier, 91, Mapleton; in Mapleton, April 2, 2009. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Houlton later this spring. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

 

    MAPLETON – Louise Shaw, who actively and willingly served her Lord, was called home on April 2, 2009. May she rest in peace. Louise Mary Boulier Shaw, 91 years old, was born in Ashland, Maine on March 31, 1918, the first daughter of a large family, to Joseph and Angeline York Boulier.Image
    Louise graduated from Portage High School, June 8, 1934. She enjoyed sports such as basketball and baseball and took pride in her swimming abilities having once swum across Portage Lake. June 24, 1939, Louise married Kenneth Allen Shaw and they had a son, F. Samuel Shaw, who now resides in Massachusetts with his wife, Judy. While living in Houlton, she completed a course in Management from the
State of Maine’s Department of Education. She was employed by JC Penny and the Houlton School Department, SAD #29. Along with her husband Ken, Louise was a faithful and active member of the Military St. Baptist Church for many years. As a widow, Louise moved to Mapleton in 1988, residing at Maple Tree Estates where she led a full life meeting the needs of many of her neighbors, one of which was providing free transportation. She was a devoted member of the Mapleton United Baptist Church and its Mission Society, as well as an active member  of the Mapleton-Castle Hill-Chapman Senior Citizen Club which meets weekly October through June.
    Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Shaw; as well as her brothers, Henry, Wilfred, Delbert, Raymond and David; and sisters, Rosie, Arlene, and Gertrude.  She is survived by her three sisters, Bertha McFarlin of Bangor, Rena Boutot of Portage, and Isabel DuBroc of Houston, Texas; and one brother, Joseph Boulier of Bangor.  She was the proud grandmother of her grandchild, Summer Rae Lapount- Schultz and her husband Tim of Bend, Oregon, and three step-granddaughters, Wendy and her husband Scott, Darlee, and Kristen, and she was loved by many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many, especially her niece, Sharon Sharadin and family of Houston, Texas and nephew, Mike Boulier and his wife, Marsha, of Presque Isle.
    Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating. Friends called noon until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton later this spring.
