CROUSEVILLE – Edmond Tardie, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, April 17, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility with his loving family at his side. He was born in Eagle Lake on January 8, 1928, the son of Frank and Hermina (Gagnon) Tardie. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1946. Ed was employed by the State of Maine as a certified seed potato inspector until his retirement in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Washburn where he served on the Parish Council, building committee, and was a Eucharistic minister for many years. Ed was a 4th degree Knight and past grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #2524 in Presque Isle.
He is survived by his wife, Marion (Stevens) Tardie of Crouseville; five daughters, Carol Jacobs of Waukegan, Ill., Barbara Bean and her husband Nason of Winterport, Linda Tardie of Harrison Township, Michigan, Donna Rodgers and her husband Carlos of Presque Isle, Sheila Michaud and her husband Ricky of Crouseville; seven grandchildren, Bruce and Frederick Jacobs, Scott Huntley, Carly Jo and Cassandra Rodgers, Travis and Brandon Chandler; several great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Hagerman of Scarborough and Janet Moore of Wakefield, RI; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Jimmy, Davis, and Herman; and a sister, Cecile.
Relatives and friends called 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Washburn with the Very Rev. Jean Paul LaBrie Celebrant. Interment will be in Crouseville Cemetery later this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Catherine Catholic Church, 13 McManus St., Washburn, ME 04786.
