Inflatable Theatre at CPAC May 16

    Saturday, May 16, will be a red letter day in the history of the Caribou Performing Arts Center as the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater comes to town. Truly family fun for everyone, Garbo brings a multi-faceted exercise in pure entertainment. You won’t know whether to laugh, clap or simply marvel at the brilliance of his inventiveness. Mixing some of the funniest and most clever exponents of dance, mime, juggling, acrobatics and inflatables in theatre today, the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater is a “must see” for County residents.     The Inflatable Theater brings together two unique performing personalities, Fred Garbo and Daielma Santos.
    Fred Garbo got paid for doing a card trick in 1974, and has been a professional performer ever since. On “Sesame Street”, he was the acrobat inside Barkley the Dog. On Broadway, he was the chief juggler in the musical “Barnum”. He toured Europe, Hong Kong and Australia with the Obie Award-winning “Foolsfire”, with Bob Berky and Michael Moschen.
    Whether tumbling for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center or dancing with MOMIX in Brazil, Garbo brings a gymnast’s timing and an actor’s presence to his Inflatable Theater Co. Garbo has trained and performed with the Master of Illusion: Tony Montanaro, a favorite with Maine audiences.
    Daielma Santos was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her training includes studies at the Royal Academy of Dance of London, Michigan University and also with director Tony Montanaro. In Brazil, Santos danced with Studio de Dancas and was principal ballerina with the Opera Paulista II dance company. Her performances span the Americas and Europe, both as choreographer and performer. From “The Nutcracker” to “The Inflatable Living Project,” Santos’ choreography combines world-class artistry and technical brilliance with theatrical humor.
    See the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 16th at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens and $5 for children. Ask about family rates at 493-4278.
