On May 1st a benefit supper was held at the VFW post home for Steve Berry, who is currently undergoing therapy for lymphoma and is doing very well. The affair was organized by Patti Hartin, who was assisted by Jackie Anderson and Elinor Savage. Many people in the area attended and enjoyed the food which was donated for the occasion, and Steve thanks all who were involved in any way.
It was brought to my attention recently that in writing about the 85th birthday party for Herschel Fogg, I forgot to mention that his granddaughter, Erin MacArthur, was the instigator of the whole affair, assisted by other family members. She was so pleased that over 100 friends and family members attended the party at the United Baptist church and that he was the recipient of many cards and gifts.
Just received word that I am now the proud great-aunt of twin boys, born May 5th in Vermont, with one weighing in at 7 lbs. 2 oz and the other weighing in at 6 lbs.12 oz. Real heavyweights !
Have lots of small birds at my feeders now—purple finch, wrens, swallows, yellow finch, and an occasional woodpecker and blue jay. Don’t plan to feed them much longer, however, as they can get enough to eat now it is warmer and the grass is growing. Did see a couple of robins, too and a pair of mourning doves, but no female cardinal.
The deer are still arriving on my back lawn to graze but do not intend to feed them this summer. Will wait ‘til it’s cooler and the grazing is not so good. All of which will mean that winter is coming.
