The Insurance Association of Greater Houlton, local affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Women, International recently held their All Industry Night event and awarded their Insurance Woman of the Year 2009.
COVETED HONOR — Dawn Nickerson, left, receptionist and insurance agent at the F. A. Peabody Insurance Company in Houlton was selected as the Insurance Woman of the Year for 2009. Last year’s recipient, Julie Folsom, also of Houlton, presented the award.
The IWOY Award is given to the person who exemplifies what it means to belong to the National Association of Insurance Women. This individual takes an active role in participating in all aspects of the group and is willing to take on challenges to grow both personally and professionally.
IAGH officials are pleased to announce Dawn Nickerson has won the award this year. Nickerson is employed as the receptionist at F. A. Peabody in Houlton. She has been a member of IAGH for two years. Her first year, she served as secretary and she is currently president of the association.
Nickerson has been very involved in many aspects of membership. She chairs the newsletter committee, the program/brochure committees for industry night, served on two committees for the state weekend and has also been involved in various fund-raisers and community service events.
Last year, Nickerson completed the Property and Casualty Pre-Licensing requirements and is now a licensed Maine agent.
