Morehouse, Majorie Maxine, 86, Augusta and Presque Isle; in Augusta, May 19, 2009. A graveside  committal service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 11 am., at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.

 

    Augusta and Presque Isle – Majorie Maxine Morehouse, 86, passed on at her home on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. She was born in Presque Isle, the daughter of Raymond and Eunice Knight on August 14, 1922.
    Majorie grew up in Presque Isle and graduated from Presque Isle High School. Her first job was at the lunch counter at F.W. Woolworth. She later worked at Wilkins and Hit or Miss. On Nov. 27., 1941, she married Norman and together they had a beautiful marriage for 67 years. Marge was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. After living in Presque Isle for 50 years, they transfered to Augusta. Mom was active in organizations through her life, being a member of the Neighborly Club, Spragueville Extension Church Circles, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a 50 year member of Lunar Chapter O.E. She was a member of the Green Street Methodist Church. Many Sunday mornings were spent volunteering at Togus to make sure patients got to church services.
    Surviving are husband, Norman; daughters, Jana Morehouse and Tammy Walton; grandsons, Scott Walton and Joshua Crommett. She was predeceased by a son, Craig Morehouse.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund of Lunar Chapter that is used for charity, 47 Howard St., Presque Isle, ME 04769, St. Andrew’s Acute Care Nurses Fund, PO Box 417, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 or Health Reach Hospice, PO Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903. A memorial service was held in Augusta on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the Fairmount Cemetery. Presque Isle area friends are invited to attend followed by a reception at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church.
