Limestone’s Kellie Peers slides into home during the Lady Eagles away game against Van Buren. Peers tripled and singled as the Eagles defeated Van Buren 16-3.
Kellie Peers tripled and singled while Ashlynn Kelly doubled and singled twice. Catcher Victoria St. Pierre singled three times and the Eagles closed the game after five innings, batting in five runs at the top of the fifth.
The Lady Eagles were down 11-10 at the bottom of the seventh and barely slipped by the Lady Tigers on May 20, scoring their two needed runs at the last minute. Fort Fairfield came out strong, taking a 9-2 lead heading in the bottom of the fourth with two home runs by Emily Wiseman and a three-run homer from catcher Courtney Churchill. LCS came back in the bottom of the fifth, however, with four runs to trail by one and tied up the game 9-all in the sixth. Fort Fairfield batted in one more run in the seventh but another run by LCS sent the game into extra innings. Neither team scored in the eighth, and a ninth inning run from the Lady Tigers bent the game in their direction, 11-10. But in their last at-bat, the Lady Eagles took the win off a Stephanie Leighton single as Audra Kirk rounded third for home. Cote took the win and contributed a home run and Peers added a double, three singles and an RBI. Kirk singled three times and Leighton doubled, while Bernier added a two-run homer and St. Pierre singled twice.
