    EDDINGTON & LEWISTON – Betty Mae Drake, 62, also known as ‘Betty Boop’, died at the home of her son, Michael Drake and his wife, Mary  where she had resided for the past year. She was surrounded by her loving family in love and prayer. She was born Aug. 24, 1946, in Houlton, Maine, the daughter of Lewis P. and Mary Louise (Deveau) Levasseur.
    Betty was educated in Houlton schools, after which she married and became the mother of five children. She instilled in them her great Catholic beliefs by having them attend St. Mary’s Catholic School and by playing a very active role in their education, donating much of her time to the school. She later relocated to the Lewiston-Auburn area where she spent many years working as a CNA at several nursing homes and as a home health care worker. She was employed as a waitress for Eith’s Bakery and her second home, Edward’s Restaurant. She enjoyed arts and crafts, family gatherings, dancing, going to the beach and caring for others.
    Surviving are her children, Douglas and his wife, Connie of Monticello, Michael and his wife, Mary of Eddington, Kevin of New Gloucester, Tammy Cote and her husband, David of Sanford, Timmy and his fiancée, Beth of Sanford; 12 grandchildren, Teri-Ann, Mark, Ryan, Justin, Joshua Veroneau, Matthew Cote, Matthew Drake, Jeff, Amanda, Amber, Jessica and Devon; six great-grandchildren, Lucas, Emilee, Mackenzie, Julia and Kaleb and Jackson; one sister, Joann Snyder; and one brother, Walter and his wife, Marianna of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Johnny, Patrick, Lawrence and Edward; two sisters, Jean and Dorothy.
    A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Houlton with Dec. Albert Burleigh, presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to EMMC Dialysis Center, c/o Eastern Maine Charities, PO Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931.
