Presque Isle High School recently held its annual spring sports awards ceremony recently.
Coach Peter Coffin presented the JV softball certificates to freshmen Hillary Albert, Courtney Colligan, Jessica Dumais, Katie Patenaude, Lauren Rand and Jessica Theriault; sophomores Rilee Elliot-Currie, Dannielle Gagnon, Chelsea Lynds, Kaitlyn Martin, Alecia Palmer and Sophie Willette; and juniors Naiomi Donovan and Alicia Kierstead.
Coach James York presented the JV baseball certificates to freshmen Matt Freeman, Andrew Kofstad, Isaac LaJoie, Ryley Norton, Jacob Player, Evan Waddell, Brett Wilson and Wilder York; sophomores Ryan Buckley, Brock Cassidy, Andrew Legassie, Ben McKenna, Billy Paradis and Derek Sczuroski; and juniors Alex Doody and manager Justin Lewin.
Coach Tim Dolley presented the girls’ varsity tennis certificates to freshmen Chelsey Carroll, Melissa Carson and Elise Jones. Receiving a first-year letter were freshman Dani Wolland, sophomores Divya Bisht and Lindsay Michaud and junior Kailee Ireland. Junior Madelyn Carson was a third-year letter recipient, while seniors Brittany Bearden, Sarah Porter and Jen Steeves earned fourth-year letters.
Bearden, Carson, Porter and Steeves were all honored as Aroostook League all-stars, while Porter made first-team singles, Steeves and Carson first-team doubles and Bearden second-team singles in the Penobscot Valley Conference. Receiving the Scholar-Athlete Award from MIAAA was Porter.
Coach Tim Dolley presented the boys’ varsity tennis certificates to freshmen Osman Castro, Cole Richards, Jacob Towle and manager Eric Freeman and sophomore Emerson Mendietta-Castro.
A first-year letter went to freshman Connor Shaw. Second-year letters were presented to sophomores Caleb Mathers and Mike Picard and junior Kyle Gilson.
Junior Chris Cawley was awarded a third-year letter, while fourth-year letters went to seniors Alex Carter and Ben Picard.
Aroostook League all-stars in boys’ tennis were Carter, Ben Picard, Cawley and Gilson.
On the PVC-All Conference Team, making the second team for doubles were Cawley and Gilson and on the second team for doubles was Carter.
Coach Dolley was presented an award for his years as coach of the Wildcats. Earning a Scholar-Athlete Award from MIAAA was Carter.
Coach Alan Curtis and assistant coach Brian Cronin presented a varsity softball certificate to freshman Courtney Colligan. Freshmen Chelsea Nickerson and Kayla Richards, sophomore Rilee Elliot-Currie, juniors Naiomi Donovan, Haley Johnston and Alicia Kierstead and manager Adam Curtis; and senior Caitlyn Esancy were given first-year letters.
Second-year letters went to sophomores Abbie LaPointe and Alecia Palmer and juniors Amy Grivois, Kelsey Park and Jenna Stephenson.
Third-year letter were presented to junior Krista Coffin and senior Kayla Legassie, while seniors Emilee Currie and Allison Young were fourth-year letter winners.
Aroostook League all-star selections were Krista Coffin, Emilee Currie, Caitlyn Esancy, Chelsea Nickerson and Allison Young. Alecia Palmer was named to the PVC all-conference second team.
Coach Ron McAtee and assistant coach Mike Waugh presented the girls’ track and field certificates to freshmen Barbara Bonville, Brittany Burlock and Brittany Caron and sophomore Melissa Tompkins.
Freshman Erica Hemphill, sophomore Victoria Winslow, juniors Brooke Long-Postell and Elizabeth Wright and seniors Rachel Churchill and Anne Elish were awarded first-year letters. Sophomores Shae Adler, Jaylee Fox and Mackenzie Pinette and senior Desiree Higgins were presented second-year letters, juniors Hallie Bartlett and Jerica Fox third-year letters and seniors Jocelyn Davis, Amber Griffin and Katrina Whittier fourth-year letters.
Aroostook League all-stars in girls’ track were Jerica Fox, Mackenzie Pinette, Amber Griffin and Katrina Whittier. Making the PVC all-conference first team in the shot put was Whittier.
Coach Lori Googins and assistant coach Evan Graves presented the boys’ track and field certificates to freshmen Jordan Mitchell, Jesse Rochester, Aidan Sawyer and Kent Smith; sophomores Paul Elish, Brandon Gibson, Zach Lunney, Alex Page and Sean Robertson; and juniors Jacob Brawn, Drew Long-Postell, Nathaniel Postell and Ethan York.
First-year letters went to freshmen Sam Clukey, Matt Eager, Logan Good and Ben Sipe; sophomores Josh Allen, Justin Good, Steve Goulet and Logan Thibeau; junior Craig Winslow and seniors Dylan Plissey and Daniel Soucier.
Seniors Matt Dunn and Dusty Graham received second-year letters, senior Lucas Richards a third-year letter and seniors Brandon Hafford and Jason Johnson fourth-year letters.
Josh Allen, Logan Good, Brandon Hafford, Jason Johnson and Dylan Plissey were all named Aroostook League all-stars.
Coach Tim Olore and Assistant Coach Tim McCue presented varsity baseball certificates to freshman Ryley Norton and sophomores Brock Cassidy, Derek Sczuroski and manager Megan Kaiser; and junior Ryan Bernier.
First-year letters went to freshmen Isaac LaJoie and Wilder York, sophomores Andrew Legassie, juniors Nate Ackerson, Zac Campbell, Kennan Eaton and manager Jordyn Kinney and senior Matt Parsons.
A second-year letter was presented to senior manager Kaitlin Lambert.
Juniors Ethan Braley, Matt Chasse, Amos Dean, Steve Ford and Brennen Shaw earned third-year letters along with senior Eric Morris.
Ethan Braley, Zac Campbell, Matt Chasse, Steven Ford and Brennen Shaw were all named Aroostook League all-stars. Chasse also earned a berth on the PVC all-conference first team.
Other special awards were presented during the ceremony. Sweatshirt recipients, for earning six varsity letters during their high school career, were Nate Ackerson, Matt Chasse, Jerica Fox and Brennen Shaw.
Varsity jacket recipients, given to athletes lettering four years in the same sport, were Brittany Bearden (tennis), Emilee Currie (softball) and Ben Picard (tennis). The following athletes earned their fourth varsity letter in their respective spring sport, but had already received their varsity jacket in a previous sports season: Jocelyn Davis, Amber Griffin, Katrina Whittier, Brandon Hafford, Sarah Porter, Jen Steeves, Alex Carter and Allison Young.
Two athletes were honored for accumulating 12 varsity letters during their high school career. They were Amber Griffin (soccer, skiing and track and field) and Sarah Porter (soccer, basketball and tennis).
