Island Falls girls win Katahdin Valley event

    This year’s Katahdin Valley League Softball Tournament was held at the Island Falls ballfield on Father’s Day, June 21.
    Teams playing in the single-elimination tourney were Sherman, Patten, Oakfield and Island Falls.
    The opening game was between Oakfield and Sherman, with Oakfield winning. The next game pitted Patten against Island Falls, with Island Falls winning.    The championship game saw Oakfield and Island Falls meeting, with Island Falls coming out as champions.

     All participants received softball medals, with the champion team receiving individual trophies and team trophy, while runner-up Oakfield received the runner-up trophy and softball medals.
    Special thanks go to Mickey Boulier who was umpire for all the games and who also helps throughout the season.
