Image  The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross recently presented the Lister Knowlton VFW  Auxiliary Post 9389 in Caribou with a 2009 Clara Barton Society Award. The auxiliary raised $1,000 for the Aroostook County Branch office to be used toward local disaster relief efforts.     “We are so appreciative of all the hard work the auxiliary does for our community,” stated Joyce Knorr, Aroostook County branch manager. “Their generous contribution helped two families in the Caribou area with immediate emergency services after their homes were destroyed by fire.”
Red Cross volunteers and staff are on the front lines when emergencies occur. Red Cross work relies on the generous financial contributions of individuals, organizations, and businesses, along with volunteer commitment and service to deliver the best possible support, Knorr explained.
“We strive to continuously improve our operations and services each day,” Knorr said. “No financial funding is provided by state or federal governments.”
