Some good economic news

To the editor:
Our St. John Valley will receive the largest and most active economic development initiative ever in our history, thanks to our Federal Administration and to our sincere and honest Federal Delegation. We are blessed with outstanding and respected representation in Washington, D.C. that we can depend on time after time.     It is not common for us to see much help from our State of Maine Administration towards the development of infrastructure in our region, beyond a few appointments to political Commissions. Our Federal Government, on the other hand, surely recognizes our long-endured hardships and deprivation, and the economic needs of our honest, hard-working citizens.
To the good people of the St. John Valley and those who wish to return to their native region, watch and apply for the hundreds of good paying jobs that will surface from our tremendous upcoming economic developments. These are developments that will truly advance growth for existing businesses, and spur many new economic endeavors.
To the residents of central and southern Aroostook, and the rest of Maine, your assertions that nothing lies north and northwest of Caribou are false and disturbing statements. Indeed, what our northern region offers is nothing short of “the best.”
Take, for example, UMFK, which has been ranked Best Northeastern College for five consecutive years by the The Princeton Review. Our health care, medical and nursing home institutions are recommended for best-quality patient services. Our local businesses and working people are renowned for their work productivity, dependability and work ethics. We are neighbored by the richly diverse Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec, whose huge natural, recreational, cultural, human and energy resources go unsurpassed in our nation. Our St. John Valley, including the Allagash region, is indeed the Crown of Maine.
Aroostook County is full of good-hearted people, and we owe you our deep respect. Too often, we read news that are not proper, prompting us to question why so much greed and selfishness exist. Whatever the reasons, it is not what we expect of you. Perhaps you could question your town and city leadership as to why so many unfair comments and decisions are made to negate countywide economic development initiatives that would benefit the majority of county and statewide citizens.
Please, let us send thank-you letters and e-mails to our Federal Delegation. They need to know what great appreciation we have for their outstanding work towards us.
