Pancake breakfast at the Caribou Historical Society

Image   Members of the Caribou Historical Society recently treated an estimated 100 guests to a good old-fashioned free pancake breakfast with all the fixings. With tables set up in the main room of the museum, the aromas of pancakes, sausage, coffee and other breakfast items greeted the early morning breakfasters.

Dining at the historical museum also offered a chance for locals and visitors to socialize as well as peruse the wide variety of historical photos and display cases filled with items that retell the history of Caribou.

His shirts states he’s an “awesome grandpa,” but Bud Brewer changed hats recently at the Caribou Historical Society, as he manned the kitchen taking orders for pancakes and sausage during the group’s annual free pancake breakfast.

It’s Caribou’s 150th birthday and the members of the Caribou Historical Society aren’t through celebrating yet. On  Saturday Aug. 22, the group will host its 22nd Annual Pie and Ice cream Social from noon to 3 p.m. at the museum.
During this sweet annual event, assorted homemade pies will be available for purchase as a whole or by the slice, served with ice cream and drinks. Everyone is welcome to participate in this afternoon affair. So take a break from your Saturday chores and running around to stop by the Caribou Historical Society, located at 1033 Presque Isle Rd. in Caribou and enjoy a slice of homemade pie, topped with ice cream (or purchase  an entire pie and you won’t have to bake anything for dessert) while you visit with friends, neighbors and family or chat with a member of the historical society and learn more about the treasures that are housed there.
    It’s Caribou’s 150th Birthday — Be a part of it!
