ImageDAYS OF OLD – Years ago, harvesting potatoes was done with a tractor and digger and lots of back-breaking work from potato pickers, who put the crop in barrels. This photo was included in the Northern Maine magazine, a Bangor and Aroostook Railroad publication, in the 1940s.

ImageTIMES HAVE CHANGED – The harvester replaced the days of potato picking by hand, here Dale T. Henderson’s crew harvest potatoes on Route 1 in Littleton during the 2008 season.
