Chadwick Florist chosen for floral expo

    HOULTON — Just in time for the holiday season, the Maine Florist Association is hosting its inaugural Public Maine Floral Design Show and Expo Sunday, Oct. 18 at the Bangor Civic Center. Chadwick Florist and Greenhouse of Houlton will be one of 20 florists to be featured.
    “One of our designers will be part of the 20-panel design team that will be putting on the two-hour floral design show,” said Deb Nisbett of Chadwick Florist. “And each of the 20 florists will have individual booths around the room for people to take in.”

FLORIST  CHOSEN — Chadwick Florist and Greenhouse of Houlton was one of  20 florists from around  the state selected to participate in the inaugural Public Maine Floral Design Show and Expo Sunday, Oct. 18 at the Bangor Civic Center.     The showcase will feature 20 floral vendor booths from Belfast to Houlton, displaying fresh flowers, permanent flowers, plants, home décor, giftware and collectibles for the holidays.

    Admission to the event is  $6. The doors open at 11 a.m. and the design show begins at 1 p.m.
     The Association hopes that this will be a popular event and hopes to expand on it next year by adding some public design competitions, floral workshops, seminars, guest speakers, and much more.
    Many different styles of floral designing will be shown from traditional Western style, Form and Line, Vegetative to Waterfall, as well as many different types of flowers, from alstromeria lilies, buplurem, calla lilies, orchids, to waxflower from Australia, that will be used in the designs.
    The showcase will feature 20 floral vendor booths from Belfast to Houlton, displaying fresh flowers, permanent flowers, plants, home décor, giftware and collectibles for the holidays.
    In addition, 20 professional florists will be on stage designing fall and Christmas arrangements, with two commentators discussing with the audience more than 200 designs to be created. All the designs and decorations made for the show will be auctioned off at the end of the design show at 3 p.m.
    The association has more than 150 professional florists from Maine in its membership.
