LIMESTONE — In April, Nicklas Jones, 17, of Limestone was charged in the death of 3-month-old Joselyn Jones, his daughter. Police allege that Jones threw his daughter into her crib to stop her from crying on April 23. Joselyn died on April 27, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor from blunt force trauma to the head.         Assistant Attorney General Andrew Benson stated on Oct. 6 that the bind-over hearing to determine whether or not Nicklas Jones will be tried as an adult could be held in December, based on a status conference on the case held on Oct. 2.
The original bind-over hearing had been scheduled in August but was postponed before the court date.
If Jones is convicted of manslaughter as an adult, he faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000. If convicted as a juvenile, Jones could be sentenced to remain at the Charlson Correctional facility until his 21st birthday.
Jones was arrested on May 1 and has pleaded not guilty. He is currently being held at Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston.
