HOULTON, Maine — This weekend, the Houlton Wesleyan Church celebrates a milestone — 50 years of service. Pastor Wayne Robertson, serving the church now for 12 years himself, said: “I am thrilled how God has worked through the years in the various ministries of church. I am not only excited about what has been and what is, but also about what is yet to come.” The church is celebrating its anniversary this weekend with two special events. On Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., the church is hosting a ham and turkey banquet with special guests and music evoking past eras.
Rev. David Leroy, Atlantic District superintendent of the Wesleyan Church, will be the guest speaker for the Sunday morning church worship service at 10:30 a.m.
Robertson said as part of the 50-year celebration, the church has three special fund-raising projects: complete the flooring in the children’s ministry area; remodel the washrooms in the youth center; and, drill a well in partnership with World Hope International for a third world country.
