Rush, Robert, 88, October 18, 2009.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.  Interment to be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Houlton.
    HOULTON – Robert Rush, 88, died October 18, 2009, at his home with his family by his side. He was born November 10, 1920, in Houlton, the youngest child of James M. and Matilda (McLaughlin) Rush.
    He attended Hodgdon and Houlton schools, graduating from Houlton High School in 1939. He farmed with his brother, James, for 40 years. In 1974, he was elected Clerk of Courts in Houlton and served in that position until his retirement in 1990. For many years, he and his late wife, Anne (Doherty) were very active in the Maine Democratic party.
    He is survived by 10 children daughters, Lucy Strawbridge of Goffstown, NH, Jane Doggett and her husband, Rob, Barbara Rush and her husband, Greg Crawford, all of Seattle, WA, Gwen Dow,  Julie Weber and her husband, William of Houlton; sons, Daniel Rush and his wife, Diana of Kennebunk, Robert Rush and his wife, Gloria of Las Vegas, Christopher and his wife, Martha of Lake Worth, FL,  Matthew Rush and his wife, Alane, Stephen Rush and his wife, Wanita, all of Houlton; 22 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
    Friends may call 10 a.m. Friday, October 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, County Road. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Visiting Nurses of Aroostook, 2 Water St., Suite 1, Houlton, ME 04730.
