Ty-Co Touchless Carwash in Ashland plans grand opening Saturday
ASHLAND – A new carwash is opening in the heart of town, just in time to help clean off the season’s first snow and the slushy mess it left behind.

The early arrival of snow in the area created nasty driving conditions, with sand kicked from tires making vehicles a grimy sight. Ty-Co Touchless Carwash, Ashland’s newest business, located on Sheridan Rd. next to the post office, is the place to go for all your car-cleaning needs, from wheels and undercarriage to headlights and windshields.

“It’s a touch-free automatic carwash, totally unattended. It’s self-service, with convenient hours for folks who work,” said A.J. Levesque, owner.
Hours, according to Levesque, depend on the time of year and the weather.
“To start, we’re looking at having the facility open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting, and based on customers’ needs,” said Levesque, who also owns the hardware store across the street from the carwash.
Levesque said such a business isn’t anything new to him, since he and his brothers were involved in operating one years ago.
“My brothers and I started one in 1988; that one was located on Main St. I now have two sons, Tyler and Cody – that’s where I got Ty-Co. This (the carwash) is something for them for the years to come,” said Levesque.
The business is also Levesque’s way of showing pride in his community.
“I’m trying to do what I can for the community of Ashland. The citizens have been good to me. I just want to provide them with another service,” he said.
Levesque bought the lot last spring, tore down the building that was there and brought in approximately 1,000 yards of fill material to level the property.
“We’re still putting the finishing touches to it. Work’s progressing and it’s really looking good,” said Levesque.
The facility features state-of-the-art equipment, installed by Jake Downey, service manager, for Mark VII Equipment Inc., of Arvada, Colo.; Roger Craig, of Northern Electric Inc., of Ashland, served as general contractor of the project. Matt Calhoun, of Ashland, performed finish carpentry.
“They’ve done an awesome job. They’ve created just what I envisioned,” said Levesque.
Work began in earnest on the building in May, with plans being drawn up and construction getting under way on the block-style building.
“It’s built to last, using an all-block style,” he said. “It’s a sturdy little building that’ll withstand moisture.”
Customers have the option of paying by cash, credit or debit card. Gift certificates and VIP cards can also be purchased.
“We’ll have coupons/gift certificates available, as well as VIP cards. The VIP cards are pre-paid and can be re-charged. The cards are designed more for companies, to help them keep track of expenses. They’ll get a statement showing the balance remaining on the account,” said Levesque.
Gift certificates and VIP cards can be purchased at Ashland Building Supply, 25 Sheridan Rd.
“People can come to the store to inquire. That’s a lot of the appeal. The carwash is conveniently located. I can keep an eye on it right from the hardware store,” said Levesque.
Levesque said between he and his sons, they’ll take care of the facility and will be close by should anyone have any questions.
The location is ideal, said Levesque, providing easy access for him and his customers.
“It’s in a high-visibility area. Dozens of people come to the post office each day. The location makes it easy for someone to pick up their mail, visit the hardware store for the project they’re working on and get their car washed. And if they have any business at the Town Office, that’s just up the street from the store,” said Levesque.
The carwash features three different washes, depending on what a customer wants.
“The high-end version is our ‘platinum’ wash, which offers pre-soak, undercarriage, high pressure wash, rocker panel, triple foam polish, rinse and a touchless dry. Our ‘gold’ wash offers pre-soak, undercarriage, high pressure wash, rocker panel and rinse. The ‘silver’ features pre-soak, high pressure wash and a rinse,” said Levesque. “Prices vary; based on how much you want done.”
Levesque said unlike some carwashes that let vehicles leave dripping, his features a system to dry much of the moisture from the vehicle before it leaves the building.
“We have a blower system that dries the cars. That’ll be especially useful in the winter months, when water tends to freeze on your car the minute you leave the carwash,” said Levesque.
A grand opening for the facility is planned for Saturday, Oct. 31. Be nice to your car this Halloween; offer it the treat of a good washing at Ty-Co Touchless Carwash.
