Three cheers for the Sherman Rec

To the editor:
    We have a home in Connecticut and also here in Dyer Brook. We attend the music on Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m. and we are so happy with the music and great company we receive there. Mary Willett and John Birmingham are two members of the band and they are all great players and the talent is awesome among them all.
    Mari Birmingham works at the Green Valley Association’s Patten group home and every week a few of them come and you have to see it to believe it. Mari is out dancing with them along with the other workers. They are so loving and nice to the young people there. The band lets a few men sing and we cheer them on.
    Where we come from in Connecticut, you wouldn’t see that kind of love shown to these people with special needs.
    God bless the band and the workers at GVA for a job well done. Some of them are with walkers. Unbelievable!
    If you have not been there, please go on a Thursday evening at the Sherman Rec Center. They will welcome you and really make you feel welcomed. If you do go, please have a dance for us as we are back in Connecticut for a while.
