BIRD’S VIEW — An aerial shot of downtown Presque Isle, taken during the 2009 Crown of Maine Balloon Fest, shows the State Street Bridge, part of Riverside Drive, as well as a section of Main St. and points east.
Paralleling State St., Academy St. is visible to the south. To the north of State St. is Church St. and the historic brick firehouse which is being restored by the Presque Isle Historical Society. City Hall is directly to the north of the firehouse. In the upper lefthand corner are the Presque Isle High and Zippel Elementary schools. A number of businesses call downtown home, including two of the larger establishments: KeyBank, the four-story building at the intersection of State and Main streets; and the Northeastland Hotel, the three-story brick building located on the east side of Main St., just south of KeyBank.
