As Veterans Day approaches, here in this small community in our part of the world, we usually think of the veterans who have given “the Last Full Measure” for their country. However, there are other unsung heroes who never receive recognition and they are the military nurses.
The combat nurse holds a place of immeasurable honor among thousands of veterans. Thousands of military nurses have served our nation in recent years and they continue to serve today. Their legacy is written in the scars of veterans young and old alike whose lives one moment hinged on a nurse’s skill.
Remember them this Veterans Day. American Legion Post No. 52 in Oakfield salutes all veterans this Veterans Day.
