The Aroostook County Brain Injury Advocacy Group, in conjunction with the Maine Concussion Management Initiative, is presenting a workshop entitled “Concussion Management in Sports” on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Campus Center. The workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. and the presenter is Dr. Paul Berkner, director of health services at Colby College in Waterville.
The objectives of the workshop are to define concussion and discuss its affect on the brain, to discuss diagnostic tool for sideline, schools and health care providers; and to outline guidelines for returning to school and play.
The workshop is aimed at coaches, athletic directors, officials and anyone else interested in the affect and management of concussions in athletics.
