Annual ‘Scents of Color Christmas Open House’ promises nine days of unique holiday shopping

    Four area crafters, each offering their own unique artistic talents during fifth annual Scents of Color Christmas Open House, will provide holiday shoppers with nine days to find just the right gift for someone on their list and even something for themselves.

    “Scents of Color,” featuring handcrafted primitive items, floral designs and a great deal more will soon be filling 1,100 square feet of space in the old Powers Theatre building, at 46 Sweden Street in Caribou. The downtown location, across from the post office, promises to be an ideal spot for holiday shoppers. Crafters from left, in front, Denise Green and Allyson Masse and  in back, Debbie Sutherland and Brenda Sirois will offer a wide variety of unique handmade items on sale beginning Friday, Nov. 27 through Saturday, Dec.5.
    The annual “Scents of Color” Christmas open house, will be located in the Old Powers Theatre building at 46 Sweden Street in Caribou, across from the post office. The 1,100 square feet of space promises to be filled with colors and scents of the holidays featuring handcrafted primitive items by Allyson Masse, Brenda Sirois and Denise Green; and floral designs by Deb Sutherland.
    The four crafters will offer a diverse selection of home decorations including fresh balsam and artificial wreaths, swags, centerpieces, grungy primitives and garlands; shelves, cabinets, benches, birdhouses, hand-painted floor cloths, linens, ornaments, hand-blown glass beads, stitcheries, signs and candles; fleece snowmen and angel ornaments.
    “We’re excited to be able to be in this space downtown,” said crafter Deb Sutherland, “it will be fun to help create traffic in that area, maybe others will see that businesses can succeed again in downtown Caribou. Now that the Dollar Store, is open, drawing a lot of shoppers and once we’re open, maybe others will think about putting another business in the area; it would be nice to have the downtown busy like it used to be.”
    The fifth annual Scents of Color Christmas Open House will open at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27 and will is scheduled to continue through Saturday, Dec. 5. The local artisans stated that they are encouraging morning shoppers to stop in early and allow themselves a chance to peruse everything on display and to make their purchases before the many one-of-a-kind handcrafted gifts disappear.
    The holiday shopping site will be offering door prizes and the four crafters remind shoppers, “Mark your calendars and bring a friend. Come get into the Christmas spirit with us.”
    Business hours for the annual Scents of Color Christmas Open House will be: Friday, Nov. 27, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 29, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Monday through Friday, Nov. 30-Dec.4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
