ImageHOULTON – Charles Lozier Valleau, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home early Saturday morning, Dec. 12, 2009, joining his parents, Charles Lozier Valleau and Gertrude Edyth Kahn; his brother, Richard Valleau; son, John; daughter, Doris; and grandson, Matthew Solomon.
    Charles was born and raised in New York City. He was very proud to serve in the Army. He was an engineer for Metro North Railroad, New York City, for 45 years. He was a very active member with Bisbee Senior Center and Bisbee Fire Department in Arizona, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charles spent the last three years of his life at Madigan Estates, Houlton, where he became a friend and family to a lot of very special people. He will be sadly missed by all.
    He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Valleau; his children, Charlotte Berkner and her husband, Norman, of New York, Charles Frappier of Connecticut, Toni Morris of California, Rena Solomon and her husband, Dale, of Kingsclear First Nation, Canada, and Helen Monroe and her husband, Charles, of Connecticut; grand-children, Serena Metzcus, Melissa Schnidt, and Denis Payne, all of New York, Tiffany, Erica and Meemee Morris of California, James, Anthony and Jenelle Frappier, all of Connecticut, Joshua Solomon of Connecticut, Mark, Andrew, Dale Jr. and Mercedes of Kingsclear First Nation, Canada; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, John Allen Valleau; sister, Marcella Louise Valleau; a large number of nieces, nephews, friends and family in both the U.S. and Canada.
    Friends called 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Houlton, with Father David Raymond, celebrant. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans' Cemetery, Caribou.
