East Hodgdon — Master Earl Lincoln has attended four terms of school in succession without missing one day or being tardy during that time.

Linneus — Times are booming in this vicinity since Bubar’s Mill has started.
New Limerick — Irvin Lovely and William Carson purchased the store of John Glue this week. The firm’s name will be Carson & Lovely.
Houlton — Landlord Thibadeau of the Lafayette Hotel has just received a large four-bowl slab of marble. When finished the hotel will be modern in its appointments.
Locked out — The vault at the Farmers Bank refused to open Tuesday morning and an expert is expected Wednesday morning to solve the difficulty.
75 Years Ago-Mar. 21, 1935

New chief — Lincoln McGaw, for the past nine years a member of the Houlton Police Department in the capacity of night patrolman was named chief of the department by the Board of Selectmen. He will take the place left vacant by the retirement of Frank W. Hogan.
Almost a million — In the year and a half between July 1933 and November 1934 the State Department of Inland Fisheries and Game distributed a little less than a million salmon, trout and rainbow trout in lakes, streams, rivers, brooks and ponds in southern Aroostook County.
Clearing the road — Dysart’s plow and Cole’s crew started work Monday on opening up the road to Presque Isle and other points in the northern part of the county and it is expected that the work will be completed at an early date.

Changes — The Houlton establishments in Market Square are currently remodeling their fronts. The Rod and Gun Shop plans to have a new sign and the entrance changed to permit sidewalk traffic to enter from Court Street as well as the square. The Boston Shoe Store also plans to have a new front and sign. Next door, Dana’s Restaurant also plans a new front and sign together with interior renovations. Dana Cheney, owner, said he plans to create a dining room in the rear of the establishment.
Grand opening — Taylor’s Shoe Store will open its doors to the shopping public this week. Gifts will be distributed by Kenneth M. Taylor of Houlton, the store’s manager.
Watch night service — The Church of the Good Shepherd will offer an all-night, watch night service on Easter Eve for the Christian worshipers who would watch by the tomb of Christ, waiting for the Resurrection.
St. Patrick’s Day Tea — Portia Rebekah Lodge No. 78 held its annual St. Patrick’s Day Tea with 150 persons served at the hall and many received box lunches at their places of business. Mrs. Hazen Drake, Nobel Grand was the hostess for the afternoon.

Election — Only 15 percent of Houlton’s registered voters went to the polls in the annual municipal election this week. Elected to three-year terms on the town council were, Nason Graham and Richard Hammond. Fred Putnam and Dr. Donald Woods were elected to the school board.
Bither’s — Quality, personal service and a joy of work are attributes which spell the success of Mildred B. McIntosh, resulting in Bither’s Ladies Shop maintaining its reputation for the past 49 years as the leading ladies apparel boutique in the area.
OM competition — The State meet of the Olympics of the Mind is set for March 30 at Houlton High School, co-hosted by Houlton and Hodgdon. Mrs. Patricia Chase, director, assisted by JoAnn Dunphy and Maribeth Barney have had the responsibility of the work involved to bring 500 students and adults to Houlton.
