Happy Losers meet

What a beautiful afternoon. On June 16, the The Happy Losers held their weekly meeting at the Congregational Church vestry in Island Falls. Our leader opened the meeting with our pledge and roll call.
We had nine ladies weigh-in and attended our class. Winnie Desmond was the loser of the week, and Mary Shaw was runner-up. Great job ladies.
The Cherry Blossom team is ahead in our contest that will end in two weeks. Our secretary and treasurer gave reports for the week. Our leader led the program for the week. Her topic was an article on lemonade. Meetings are interesting and informative.Please feel welcome to our group every Wed. 8 to 8:45 a.m. for weigh-ins and meeting starts at 9 a.m. Call 365-4884 for more info

Oakfield Seniors gather

A total of 25 members of the Oakfield senior citizens met at the Oakfield Snowmobile Club for lunch. Don Marley said the blessing. We had a lunch of hot dogs and different salads and was enjoyed by all. On our next meeting we are having an auction to benefit R.S.V.P. Any one that would like to donate to the auction call 757-8634 and we will pick it up. Anyone who would like to come to the auction is welcome it will start after lunch .the date is July 7.
On July 17, there will be a food sale at the bandstand to benefit R.S.V.P. The secretary’s and treasurer’s report was given and accepted. The card report was given by Wanetta Townsend. The club was decorated by Marie Gillotti good job.
Bob Locke led us in the Lord’s Prayer and the flag salute. The rest of the meeting was spent being entertained by Bob Locke and a Variety of old songs. A thank you to the snowmobile club for letting us have our meetings here.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 0233 of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its Friday, June 19 meeting. Joyce Estey, leader, was present and conducted the meeting. Elinor Harvey was the official greeter. Reports were given by Jackie Reinzo and Lois Downing.
Twenty-two members were present and five KOPS. Everyone said the TOPS pledge and five KOPS said theirs. The loser of the week was Jackie with Dale Holden as runner-up.
Barbara Hogan, heading a new program, spoke on it and distributed more papers pertaining to it. If you have e-mail and forgot the recipe, you are allowed to send it via e-mail. The skinny dish was taken home by Brenda Lacostic.
Leader Joyce read a thank you letter from Janice Cote, reference to the workshop on June 12. Joyce then spent the rest of the meeting reviewing bylaws with the members. She requested you bring the November, 2009 TOPS magazine, if you still have it, to the next meeting on June 25. Copies of the new bylaws will be forthcoming.
Each week TOPS meets at the High Street location. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. after weigh-in from 8-8:45. If you need more information you may call Charlotte Marley at 757-8483 or Betty Ivey at 532-9653. Everybody is welcome.
