On June 10, First Book partners met with representatives from the First Book main office, at the Houlton Higher Education Center. Those present told about the importance of First Book in their programs. Literacy Coach Sarah Estabrook made a presentation about the Read and Learn Festivals at the Houlton Elementary School. A Head Start/Pre-K partnership was established at the Houlton Elementary School this past school year with over 300 children’s books distributed.
The ATEC/First Book Aroostook Advisory Board was recognized with certificates for its 10-year association with First Book. United Way of Aroostook and the U.S. Dept. of Education (Maine grant sponsored by Sen. Susan Collins) were recognized for their help in promoting literacy through First Book books.
