Clean up
On June 13, the Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club held its annual range cleanup and maintenance day. The cleanup event is the brainchild of Trueman Jones, longtime HRPC member. Participants included Jones, Paul Harrison, Curt Harrison, Tom Brown, Rod Hemingway, Eric Richards, John Cleary, Jim Newman, Tim Gillotti, Greg Techuk, Ron Butler and Tim Glossinger.
Winter Shoot
The Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club (HRPC) held their semi-annual potluck supper June 20, along with awards for the Winter Shoot.
Winning the 22 Hand Gun Slow, timed and rapid fire, first, Trueman Jones; second, Rod Hemingway and third, Curtis Harrison; Center fire, first, Eric Richards; second, Harrison and third, Jones; 22 Rim Fire Rifle, first, Paul Harrison; second, Harrison and third, Hemingway; Rim Fire Pistol, first, P. Harrison; second, Richards and third, C. Harrison.
Scholarships
Greg Schools of Houlton High School and Brandon Dow of Hodgdon High School were each awarded a $500 scholarship by the Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club.
These scholarships are given to deserving high school seniors intending to pursue studies in the trades.
Schools and Dow will be attending Northern Maine Community College. Schools plans do his course work in diesel hydraulics, while Dow’s goal is to study plumbing and heating.
