Washburn athletes honored
WASHBURN — Washburn District High School held its spring sports awards assembly June 3 at the Doc Albert gymnasium. Athletic Director Ron Ericson welcomed everyone. George McLaughlin presented volleyball certificates to Jordan McLaughlin, Chase Chandler, Mason Turner, Garth Kinney, Andrew McLaughlin, Kyle McLaughlin, Mitch Worcester, Chris Farley, and Mike Forand. Jordan McLaughlin was awarded the Outstanding Volleyball Player Award and Kyle McLaughlin was named the Most Improved Player.
Tammy Tatlock presented championship plaques to the girls volleyball team for winning the Aroostook County Division III Championship. She also presented certificates to Sydney Beckwith, Rayah Saucier, Rebecca Campbell, Meghan Saucier, Hillary Jackson, Maegan Fitzpatrick, Olivia Doody, Melissa Cochran, and Amanda Libby.
Rebecca Campbell was named Outstanding Player. Sydney Beckwith was presented with the Coach’s Award. Olivia Doody was named the Rookie of the year. Softball coach Tammy Tatlock presented three-year plaques to Meghan Saucier, Amanda Libby and Hillary Jackson. Earning certificates and pins were Amanda Libby, Hillary Jackson, Lindsey Blackstone, Meghan Saucier, Rayah Saucier, Tia Dee, Kristi Sperrey and Breanna Hyde. Earning letters were Marcella Cheviot, Makala Ronco and Anna Carlson. Rayah Saucier was named Most Valuable Player. Tia Dee was named the Most Improved. Kristi Sperrey was awarded the Coach’s Award.
Baseball coach Ben Goodwin presented a three-year plaque to Chris Farley. Earning certificates and pins were Trevor Pendexter, Salvatore Viola, Justin Howe, Connor Fitzpatrick, Kyle McLaughlin, Nick Bragg, Anthony Viola and Chris Farley. Earning letters were Justin Wing and Andrew McLaughlin. Jordan McLaughlin and Chase Chandler were presented certificates. Justin Howe was named Most Valuable Player. Nick Bragg was named Rookie of the Year. Connor Fitzpatrick was awarded the Coaches’ Award.
Ericson presented Varsity Club fleeces to Trevor Pendexter, Salvatore Viola, Rebecca Campbell and Meghan Saucier.
