OAKFIELD, Maine — Sometimes it truly is better to lose than to gain. Just ask employees of Katahdin Forest Products, who recently held a 10-week biggest loser contest in which the winning team members each received a new 42” flat panel television. There were also smaller weekly prizes to the three top losers each week. According to Anthony White of Katahdin Forest Products, the total weight loss was 458 pounds, with the winning team of Todd Carter and Rocky Lyons losing more than 70 pounds.
“The program lasted from April into June and it is the first time Katahdin has done this type of event,” White said. “We were concerned about the overall health of the employees and wanted to do something fun to encourage people to get fit.”
Participating in the event were: Ruth Irish, Shannon Hersey, Barb Boutilier, Irene Curry, Patti White, Rachel Daniels, Pat Richards, David Gordon, Steve Tarr, Anthony White, Paul Dwyer, Dale Webb, Bruce Hall, Rob Brooks, Ed Rand, Greg Howes, Travis Libby, Nate Hardy, David Sommers, Barry Ivey, Jim Lyons, Brian Holyoke, Frank Gioffre, Tony Guerriero, Jim Maclean, Glen Tarr, Jay Rocheleau.
