Maine Veterans Home receives $336,294 for new addition

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On July 19, Congressman Mike Michaud, Chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, praised the announcement of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki that the State of Maine will receive a grant totaling $336,294 for assistance in the cost for the multipurpose room addition at the state veterans’ home in Caribou.

“I am pleased that the VA has made this investment in Maine,” said Michaud.  “Our state’s veterans’ homes are dedicated to serving those that served our country. This federal investment will save our state money as well as provide the residents of the Caribou facility with additional space for activities.”

“The multipurpose room at the Caribou State Veterans’ Home will provide much needed space to enhance quality of care and quality of life for our residents. This room with give us the opportunity to host events and bring in additional services,” said Kelley Kash, CEO of the Maine State Veterans’ Homes.
