CARIBOU — The County Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol based at the Caribou Airport recently held a local training exercise. Three Cadets and four Officers opened the Sept. 19 exercise with a simulated lost hunter and later in the day a training Electronic Locator Transmitter was detected north of the Caribou Airport indicating a downed aircraft. The training was held to familiarize squadron members with the Global Positioning Satellite system.
Participating in the training was Capt. David Barbosa, Capt. Ray Burby, Lt. George Berube and Lt. Cathy Welch. Cadets taking part were Cadet Lt. Levi Swan, Cadet Sgt. Trevor Oplinus and Cadet Airman Dylan Berkoski.
The County Composite Squadron meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Caribou Airport at 6:30 p.m.
