AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is now accepting nominations for the 2011 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence. This prestigious award is presented by the Governor each spring as a way to recognize and honor Maine companies that demonstrate a consistently high level of commitment to their community, to their employees and to manufacturing or service excellence.
“Winning the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence demonstrates to your customers, the community, the State of Maine and beyond, that your business has earned a reputation for top quality workmanship and service, stellar employee relations and an overall commitment to excellence,” DECD Commissioner Thaxter Trafton said. “Maine businesses of all sizes are encouraged to apply.”
Companies may be nominated or they may nominate themselves, and small businesses are strongly encouraged to apply. Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting Brian Doyle by phone at 207-624-9807, by e-mail at Brian.Doyle@ maine.gov or by postal mail sent to: Brian Doyle, DECD, Burton M. Cross State Office Building, 3rd Floor, 59 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333.
DECD is proud to administer the excellence awards and works with a selection committee comprised of former award winners and business people. Winners of the 2011 award will be recognized during ceremonies next April. Questions concerning the nomination process should also be directed to Mr. Doyle. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011.
