Still debating Willette’s choice: Reader should get over party switch

Reader should get over

party switch

To the editor:

I am writing in response to the editorial in the Dec. 1st edition of the Star-Herald, by Mr. Robert J. Saucier of Presque Isle.

He writes of supporting Mike Willette’s campaign and of his financial contribution, and of Mike Willette switching parties. Politicians do switch parties at times. Mr. Willette is not the first to do so. Whatever the amount of your contribution was, it was done willingly and freely, without conditions or reservations.

Personally, I feel it matters not whether a person is a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent. To me what matters most is their performance in Augusta. To my knowledge, Mike has done quite well. That’s the bottom line.

Since Mike Willette switched parties, I have heard no negative comments about the switch and I know a lot of people.

So Mr. Saucier, in closing, I’d like to ask you, “What bothers you the most? The cash or the switch or both?” My advice to you is “Get over it.”
