Dave Plowman, owner of P.D.Q. Door Co. said he was “pretty shocked” when he received an e-mail telling him that his Maine company would receive the 2011 Joseph A. Caputo Door Dealer of the Year Award.
With offices in Hampden, Rockport, Bath, Waterville and Houlton, Plowman’s company was up against about 5,000 other candidates. And, he topped them, making it the first time the International Door Association (IDA) is presenting the award to a New England Company.
Plowman recognized his Houlton manager, Pat Crowley, as a significant figure in the whole operation’s success. “This is a great testament to our team and to Pat who has run our Houlton office. He takes good care of our customers with exceptional service,” said Plowman.
The IDA presents awards to businesses based on recommendations from its members. Criteria for the award includes high integrity, respect from peers, an orientation toward quality, community and industry involvement and being an exemplary door dealer company.
Plowman and his wife Debra started P.D.Q. in 1994. They grew the business into a statewide company that sells garage doors and openers, security doors and door-related products. Dave Plowman was named Hampden Business Association’s Person of the Year. He will accept the award in June at IDA’s annual meeting in Indianapolis.
