Though the trip won’t take place until February 2011, plans are already under way for the annual trek from Portage to Quebec.
“Once again, plans are under way for the Maine-Quebec Caravan. The caravan will meet at Dean’s Motor Lodge for breakfast, then travel with a guide through the woods roads to the Quebec border,” said Theresa Fowler, executive director, Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce.
Registration forms are available through the PIACC.
“The cost is $30 per person, which includes the participant’s pass to the Quebec Carnival events,” said Fowler, adding, “any profit will be donated to charity.” Fowler did not specify which charitable organization might benefit from this year’s trip.
The caravan is scheduled for Feb. 11-13, with breakfast at Dean’s set for 6 a.m. on Friday, with the group departing at 7 a.m.
“There will be a stop at Clayton Lake and a second stop at Montmagny where we will divide into two groups — one going to Levi and across on the ferry, the other taking the bridge into Quebec City,” said Fowler.
Completed registrations should be returned to: PIACC, 3 Houlton Rd., Presque Isle, ME 04769 or tfowler@pichamber.com no later than Jan. 21, 2011.
