MORE THAN $24,000 was raised for the Presque Isle Rotary Club’s “Special Project” during the recent radio/television auction. This year’s special project was set to repair the roofing on the food storage warehouse at Catholic Charities of Maine in Caribou. The agency serves 24 food pantries in Aroostook County, impacting 40,000 people annually. Celebrating the moment of surpassing the goal during the final night of the auction Dec. 2 at the Northeastland Hotel were, from left, Tim Poitras, Floyd Rockholt, Jennifer Flynn, Dixie Shaw of Catholic Charities, Theresa Fowler, Jeff Pangburn, Nancy Fletcher, Gretchen Morse, John Harvell, Morgan January and Brian Hamel.

ROTARIAN KEVIN MCCARTNEY, of Caribou and a Presque Isle Rotarian, at left, volunteered his talents in many ways during the recent radio-television auction. Here he takes a turn as keeper of the “original” timer mechanism to let auctioneers and listeners know when the half hour of bidding was nearing the end.
