HOULTON — With the holidays fast approaching the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce has announced its winners in the fourth annual Gingerbread House Building and Home Decorating contests.
“Just stepping through the doors of the Courtyard Café, one experiences the incredible smell of gingerbread,” said Lori Weston, executive director for the chamber. “Joyce Transue, owner of the Courtyard Café, graciously displays the houses so that the public can view and admire the hard work and creativity of our very talented local folks.”
This year, a total of 21 individuals constructed gingerbread houses for the competition. Those entering gingerbread houses had three nights that they could deliver their creations to the Courtyard Café. The houses are available for viewing at the restaurant.
“This year, the entries were all exceptional,” said Weston,. “It takes great skill, patience and imagination to create a gingerbread house.”
