C-ME-SKI is Saturday

LIMESTONE – The C-ME-SKI Race, sponsored by the Limestone Ski Club and the Friends of the Aroostook Wildlife Refuge, will be held Saturday, Feb. 26.

Registration gets under way at noon and a race for youths will be held at 1 p.m., followed by an adult race at 1:30 p.m. The cost is free for youth and $5 for adults.

The course length is half a kilometer to 2K for those up to age 13, 7K for ages 13-18 and 21K for adults.

The event will be held at the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge on the Loring Commerce Centre, located at 97 Refuge Road in Limestone.

Anderson Ski Dag slated for Sunday

The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will host its 36th annual Henry Anderson Memorial Ski  Dag on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Caribou Ski Trails.

Registration will be at 11:30 a.m. on race day at the ski trails, located off Rt. 161 approximately three miles north of Caribou, near the Caribou Country Club. This 8K race is diagonal stride (classical) only. New this year will be two race categories: racing and touring. The Henry Anderson race will start at 1 p.m.  The registration fee is $16 for adults and $10 for students.    

Awards will be presented to overall male and female finishers as well as first and second place male and females in each age division and category

Limestone Hotshot winners

Finishing in the top three in their respective age divisions at the Limestone Recreation Department’s Hotshot Basketball competition were:

Girls ages 11-12: first, Ashley Woodworth; second, Rebecca Dillenbeck; and third, Kelsi Newell; girls ages 13-15: first, Kennedi Smith; second, Chelsey Pelkey; and third, Alexis Bell; girls ages 16-18: first, Ashley Kelly; second, Amanda Allen; and third, Hunter Smith.

Boys ages 9-10: first, Mason Patten; second, Trevor Hale; and third, Davis Levesque; boys ages 11-12: first, Zachary Weatherhead; second, Chris Caldwell; and third, Gary Sharp; boys ages 13-15: first, Dylan Nadeau; second, Tristan Kirk; and third, Brandon Nadeau; boys ages 16-18: first, Joshua Forsman; second, Nate Tucker; and third, Cody Bryant.

These individuals will represent Limestone at the regional competition, set to be held Wednesday, Feb. 23 in Caribou.
