RAND, Arthur S., 86, PRESQUE ISLE, February 26, 2011. A spring interment will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

American Flag ColorPRESQUE ISLE – Arthur S. Rand, 86, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, February 26, 2011, after passing away peacefully at his residence. He was born February 15, 1925, in Presque Isle, the son of Charles and Leversa (Dean) Rand.SH Arthur Rand1 OB

Arthur served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and his ship was the first ship to enter Tokyo Bay. Shortly after his discharge, he married Rowena Barnes and they would enjoy almost sixty-five years together.

Arthur worked for Parker K. Bailey, Vahlsing’s, McCains, and he owned and operated the Halfway Market on the Caribou Rd. He enjoyed doing crafts and building things with Rowena. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Rowena, he is survived by two daughters: Gayla Sprague and a special friend, Rodney Mills of Presque Isle, and Barbara Bubar and her husband, Fred of Fort Fairfield; five grandchildren: Jody Bubar, Julie McEwen and her husband, Evan, Nick Bubar and his wife, Angie, Misty Miranda and fiancé, Rino Marquis, and Dustin Sprague and his wife, Missy; eight great-grandchildren: Darion, Judd, Cameron, Sydney, Tia, Trevor, Kyler and Lexi; as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents,

he was predeceased by three brothers: Richard, Arnold, and Lindly Sr.; and a sister, Phyllis Rand.

Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Pastor Larry Palmer officiating. Friends called from noon until time of service. A reception was held in the reception hall of the funeral home following the service.
