PRESQUE ISLE – Roger Reed, 72, died April 19, 2011, at the Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill. He was born in Presque Isle on February 28, 1939, the son of Alton Roger Reed and Harriet Viola Sites.
Roger spent many years working as a parking garage attendant for the Prudential Center in Boston, Mass., where he was befriended by professional hockey player, Bobby Orr. Roger loved spending time deep sea fishing with his beloved father and camping. Despite his physical disabilities, Roger was an accomplished candlepin bowler at his favorite bowling lanes in Rockland, Mass., where he won many trophies for his accomplishment. You could often see Roger riding his two wheel and three wheel bicycles around the streets of Presque Isle. Roger had several beloved friends including Frank and Marion Allen of Presque Isle, who supported him with a helping hand, Bernie Michaud of Presque Isle who Roger enjoyed conversation with over a cup of coffee, and Ron Haines who gave Roger many a needed haircut.
Roger was predeceased by his father and mother; and a niece, Sharon Langley.
He is survived by three sisters: Priscilla Jalbert of Presque Isle, Judith Crosby of Mineral, IL, and Deb Bartol and husband, Ron of Charlotte, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held April 22, 2011, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle. Interment will be at a later date at Southside Cemetery, Chapman. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com
